About Me.
Thank you for visiting my site and having an interest in my work. A combination of over 30 years of trial, error and learning has gone into the making of the pieces on this site. They reflect my love of colour, dark corners and the rhythm of nature.

I am fascinated by the power and exquisiteness of the natural world and love to explore the connection with humanity and imagination. The work in this site includes an appreciation of the beauty around us, mixed with a dash of a slightly more surreal parallel imaginary world. There's a range of media I love to work with, including soft pastels, oils, acrylics and mixed media collage. I tend to build mixed media work up in layers, creating a story through the strata, whereas with pastels I try to capture the essence of the moment and the freshness. Please note that the sizes on the Art work product pages are the image size before the frame is added on!

After 30 years as a painter and 2D artist, I am now also exploring the 3D world of hand thrown pottery and ceramic sculptures. My work uses natural materials and ancient processes to create uniquely shaped and patterned pieces. Most clay pieces are fired using Raku techniques creating crackled or iridescent effects or are pit fired to create smokey effects. Both techniques are exciting and unpredictable and require a degree of courage and risk taking. The effects, in my opinion are worth the risk and the whole process is a superb journey of discovery.

I have exhibited my work all over but mainly the UK. Past exhibitions include California, Aberdeenshire, North Yorkshire and York. The last big show was Art& at York Racecourse in 2018. I am aways keen to exhibit my work so please contact me if you would like to show any of my pieces in your gallery or shop.

I am delighted to share these new pieces now with you. Please do get in touch if you wish to discuss any of the work further.
